UHC Project Update: September 2013

uhc cp logoIn March of 2010, President Obama signed the nation’s health reform law the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.   The health reform law requires all Americans to have health insurance starting in 2014.  The health reform law expands the existing Medicaid program to cover low-income, adults regardless of whether they have children.

United Healthcare is the country’s largest Medicaid managed care organization serving over 3 million people in Medicaid, Medicare Special Needs Plans, and Children’s Health Insurance Programs across the nation.  In Mississippi, UHC offer their members  the Mississippi Coordinated Access Network (MississippiCAN). UHC members receive great Medicaid benefits and additional services through the UnitedHealthcare Community Plan, including unlimited visits to their Primary Care Provider and Specialists.
